This is all about helping other people - about making a difference in the lives of other people.
Many times, students are indifferent or apathetic about social issues that affect others in their community, in their world.
We believe that we can empower students to become change-agents in our society…to confront real-world issues such as hunger, poverty, discrimination, AIDS, environmental problems, and the violence in our world. We can do this by taking steps to change things, one person at a time.
Here are some things to get you started:

Join the Power of One organization in your school.(If you don't have one in your school, start one!)

Start a food drive and donate the food to a local food bank or homeless shelter.

Have a clothing drive - donate the clothing to a homeless shelter or the Salvation Army

Collect a dollar from everyone you know - a dollar isn't much to ask for, but when all of the dollars are combined it is a worthy amount! Donate this money to a local charity that feeds the hungry.

Make sandwiches (make sure you keep the "fixing area" clean and sanitary) - donate these to a local homeless shelter.

Collect toiletries - especially things like toothpaste and soap (like samples or what you get from hotels). Put these things in plastic baggies and donate them to a local shelter.

Collect blankets for the homeless.

Visit an elderly person - many older people can't get out and about very much and can get lonely. By giving a few hours a week you can really make a difference to someone's life and learn a bit more about the past.

Go to the Hunger Site - Click on the "Donate Free Food" button and the site's sponsors will donate food to organizations that provide free food to the hungry. It's that easy!

Register to vote (if you're old enough). Then, VOTE!
